December 18, 2012, COMMISSION MEETING

PUBLIC COMMENT
Mr. McCabe returned to the commission requesting clarification of the process to vacate land. Commissioner Heath Davis suggested that McCabe submit plans for altering his property to the Cedar Key Building Department. Attorney Norm Fugate reminded McCabe that the city is not obligated to vacate the land and that McCabe`s presentation is based on many assumptions with no surveys or research actualized. Commissioner Sue Colson restated her reluctance to approve anything that does not include detailing the effects on the larger neighborhood.

Commissioner Dale Register spoke of the "unfortunate event" in which he was involved this past week explaining that legal proceeding prevented him from commenting further. He declared his commitment to Cedar Key.

ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS
Fire Chief Robert Robinson reported that he was moving forward on closing the open building permits in town. Commissioner Scott Dennison requested a synopsis of what has been completed at the January commission meeting.

Dennison`s QuickBooks concerns were postponed until an undetermined future date because of his busy schedule.

Dennison advised the commissioners to begin gathering pictures and ideas of what they wish the State Road 24 proposed pedestrian pathway to look like because the process will move quickly once it has begun.

WastePro has undergone reorganization and will no longer honor the past contract. A new contract costing customers $3.60 per month was approved.

Commissioners directed Attorney Fugate to redraft the city`s ordinance to be in compliance with state law regarding the distance an establishment selling liquor must be from a church.

Applications for the city administrator were narrowed to the top three. Commissioners directed staff to set a date for these three applicants who will be interviewed in the library. Public may attend.
