Obituary

Thomas "Grady" McLeod went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Haven Hospice in Chiefland.

Grady was born July 4, 1923 in Cedar Key, Fl to William Butler and Elizabeth (Bessie) Phelps McLeod. He grew up in Cedar Key, graduated from Cedar Key School and attended the University of Florida.

After retiring from Graybar Electric Company where he was District Operating Manager for both the Miami and Tampa Districts, he returned to Cedar Key in 1985 with his wife, Omega. Grady and Omega loved traveling, visiting family, working in their church and caring for family and friends. He was an avid Gator fan and loved fishing the waters of the Gulf.

Grady served as Vice President of the Cedar Key Historical Society, was a former Dale Carnagie instructor, a past member of the vestry of Christ Episcopal Church and a Florida Pioneer Descendant.

He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Omega Arline McLeod, his parents, three bothers (Alec, William and Clifford) and two sisters (Sally and Myrtie). Survivors include: sons, Tom (Ellen) McLeod of Pensacola and Bill (Ginny) McLeod of Gainesville, daughter, Dot (Jim) Taylor of Cedar Key, seven grandsons, and 10 great grandchildren.

There will be a funeral service and interment of ashes on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:30 at Christ Episcopal Church, Cedar Key. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Cedar Key United Methodist Church at noon. The family requests everyone wear orange and blue in honor of Grady`s lifelong support of the Florida Gators.
