CITY COMMISSION AND CRA CONSIDER BUDGET, LOANS, GRANTS

by CKN Staff Reporter

Both the Cedar Key Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the Cedar Key City Commission met Tuesday evening, July 3, 2013, at 6PM, in City Hall.

At the CRA meeting, CRA Chair Dale Register distributed his "Cedar Key CRA Revenues and Expenses Going Forward" printout and announced that even with "very optimistic tax revenues," the city will be unable to pay its bond payment in full in the 2015/2016 fiscal year.

At the City Commission meeting, the following actions occurred:

- Commissioners unanimously approved a motion to obtain the loan necessary to process payments for the Florida Wildlife Commission Gulf-side Boat Ramp Grant.

- Commissioners unanimously approved payment to pay Gainesville-based CHW Engineering $20,000 for services rendered on the proposed State Road 24 sidewalk between Bridges Number Three and Four.

- Commissioners directed Attorney Norm Fugate to draft an ordinance allowing city personnel, with some stipulations, to voluntarily donate and transfer sick days to another employee`s account when the latter is exhausted. The ordinance will become retroactive.

- Commissioner Sue Colson, anticipating possible British Petroleum RESTORE Act funding, suggested that the city begin to identify and prioritize projects that may be appropriate: marina drainage; G Street erosion; and storm water pipes; economic expansion.
