Children`s Summer Art Program

Maureen Landress

Looking for something fun for the kids to do this summer? Then consider the program "Experiments in Art" being presented at the Cedar Key Arts Center.

A Collage by Chloe

Program Director Polly Werner, and her assistant Rita Borelli, have put together an exemplary program that offers children a multidimensional look into the world of art. It has everything from art history and critiquing, to design and production. There are three sessions available; session one is grades K-2 (June 10-21), session two is grades 3-5 (June 24-July 5) and session three is grades 6-8 (July 8-19).

An Abstract by John

The kids will get to delve into the creative process that an artist goes through in creating their art, from the choice of materials to the finished work, and every aspect in between. They will learn about style, technique, basic elements, composition and perception. The older participants will even learn how to critique art.

Hands on experience in a multitude of mediums, such as collage, abstract painting and sculpture, will let them express their own sense of creativity. Their artistic efforts will be displayed at the Arts Center Gallery at the culmination of the program, with a reception on July 27th at 10:00 A.M.

A Crayon and Water Batik by Alicia

There are still a few openings available for the later sessions. For additional information, contact Polly Werner at (352) 493-4427.
