On the Value of Art

On the Value of Art

Editorial

Cedar Key, with its abundance of artists, writers and photographers, seems not to need a defense of the arts. Yet music, perhaps the oldest art, is not taught in our school, and is in need of promotion if not defense.

The Cedar Key Arts Center has been host to dance training, with Brittney Wieland the inspiring teacher. A spin-off from her classes has been her students` enthusiasm for music appreciation sessions for children. Cedar Key News proudly co-sponsors those sessions with the Arts Center.

Several parents of the children that attended the dance and music classes have requested music appreciation programs for adults. Children and parents (and any other interested adults) will be welcome at two upcoming. programs at the Cedar Key Arts Center, July 28 and August 4 from 7:00 til 8:30 PM.
