Governor Crist Balks on Appointment

Governor Crist Balks on Appointment

Editorial

Eight months after Governor Charlie Crist removed Levy County Commissioner Tony Parker from office there is no one in the Governor`s office willing to explain the delay in appointing someone to fill Parkers seat on the Board of Commissioners.

County Chair Nancy Bell told Cedar Key News that she has enquired almost daily about a replacement, to no avail. The Governor`s Appointments Office declines to comment, and referred enquiry by Cedar Key News to the Governor`s Press Secretary. However, promises of a response from that office have not been forthcoming.

A long list of applicants for the Commission seat was winnowed to three people months ago. Since that time no action has been made public by the Governor`s Office.
