25 May 1822 - By one of the acts of congress, the sum of 6000 dollars is appropriated for a survey of the coast of Florida, under the direction of the president. An accurate chart of the coast, as well as a knowledge of the capabilities of the numerous little islands that are located on it, are things of great importance. We are told that many of these islands are heavily timbered, and several of them abound with deer, evidence that the soil is good, and that they are supplied with fresh water. There is no possible reason why these islands should not produce the coffee-tree and most other West India plants.

29 January 1876 - The East Florida Banner newspaper published in Ocala carried the following notice: Belle Boyd, the "Confederate Spy" will lecture in Ocala on next Monday night in the Court House. Miss Boyd will give an account of her adventures during the late war and promises that they will be amusing as well as historical. She was wounded five times and was a prisoner of war three times and is styled the "heroine of the world." Many of our citizens will have an opportunity of witnessing what they have never witnessed before: a female lecturer. Admission 50 cts., children 25 cts. The lecture will commence at 8 o`clock.

17 September 1937 - At a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Bronson it was ordered that a committee go before the School Board and the County Commissioners and request their assistance in fencing the Town, explaining to them that it would eliminate having to fence the Court House and School house. Charles Kimble; Mayor J.A. Dixon; Mrs. W.E. Rivers; Mrs. Augusta Graham; and Mr. G.M. Owens were appointed as a Committee to see these Boards and report to the Council.
