22 January 1825 - The United States Postal Service established a post office at Wacahootie in the Territory of Florida. George Helvenston was appointed to serve as postmaster. On 04 May 1827, Helvenston was relieved by John F. McDonald. Other appointments included: Cotton Rawls, appointed 26 February 1831; Benjamin Priest, appointed 23 February 1832; Irvin J. Bankright, appointed 01 April 1854; and William F. Smith, appointed 11 February 1857.

18 December 1895 - James Hughes of Morriston filed a lawsuit against the Savannah, Florida and Western Railway Company to recover six acres of land over which the railroad runs its line and to which Hughes claims title. Hughes also asked for damages amounting to Nine hundred and forty dollars for lost crops. Hughes received the $940 but did not get his land back.

1950 August 18 - The Office of the District Engineer, Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army, Jacksonville, Florida issued a "Certificate of Clearance" concerning the Boundaries of the Levy County Air to Ground Bombing Range. The Corps of
Engineers certified that the area had been given a careful visual search and had been cleared of all dangerous and/or explosive materials reasonably possible to detect. The search found 6 - 2000lb M-66 bombs, 7 - 5000lb An-M-58 bombs, 9 - 1000lb AN.M-44 bombs, and 3 - 6lb M-69 Incendiaries H.E. bombs, which were destroyed in place. The gunnery range, which was located in Township 14 South Range 13 East, is within the Lower Suwannee Wildlife Refuge north of Shell Mound.
