30 January 1869 - Under an act of the General Assembly of the Florida State, the Legislature established a Florida Board of Education, a Uniform System of Common Schools, and a University in the State.

31 July 1925 - B.F. Sutton filed a sworn statement with Levy County Clerk, L.W. Drummond stating that he moved to Putnam County from Levy County, Florida on or about December 15, 1915 and that for 25 years prior to his move to Putnam County, he lived on and occupied what is known as the southern part of Hog or Bradford Island at the mouth of the Suwannee River. That he erected a dwelling house on the island and raised his family there. He also built a boat landing, shelters for domestic animals, and fenced the property. Sutton pastured his hogs, cattle and other domestic animals there and raised produce which he sold in the markets at Cedar Key and elsewhere. The property was leased from B.A. Thrasher of Gainesville for the sum of Ten Dollars ($10.00) per year.
