04 December 1860 - The following classified notice appeared in the Cedar Keys Telegraph: FOR SALE OR RENT. Any person wishing to purchase or rent a desirable private residence, at the Town of Atseena Otie, can be accommodated by applying at the Store of Messrs. GEO. HELVENSTON & CO., of this place. The dwelling is newly completed and contains four large rooms and two fire places, and has on the premises all necessary outbuildings and a good well of water. 90 years ago
23 June 1913 - The Port Inglis Terminal Company sold 40 acres of land to the Dunnellon Phosphate Company. The sale exempted the 120 foot wide right-of-way sold to the Standard & Hernando Railroad Company. The land was located in the
vicinity of the property currently owned by Florida Power Corporation on the south side of SR 40 in Inglis. 50 years ago 07 January 1953 - Mr. W.B. Patterson of Gulf Hammock came before the Levy County Board of County Commissioners and asked that a speed limit of 25 miles an hour be set on the old Peek Fish Camp road (present day John Yearty Road) since the road is very narrow and the bushes have grown up on the shoulders of the road.
A motion was made by Commissioner Yearty, seconded by Commissioner Gilbert that signs be bought and erected on said road setting the speed limit at 25 miles per hour. The Board also agreed to cut the bushes and over-hanging limbs along said County road as soon as possible. From the Archives & History Center
