03 June 1860 - The 1860 Federal Census of Levy County showed the following inhabitants living at Clay Landing: George W. Tresper, a merchant; Mary A. Tresper; Anna J. Tresper; Maria A. Tresper; Adalaide M. Tresper; Sarah M. Kaskill, a servant; Mary Kaskill; William Morrison, a clerk; W.A.F. Jones, a farmer ; Sarah W. Jones; Sarah J. Jones; Gana F. Jones; and W.A.F. Jones, Jr. 90 years ago
06 January 1913 - R.A. Alfred, Immigration Officer at Port Inglis questioned H.W. Bortola, Master of the vessel S.S. Dora Balted which sailed from Savona, Italy via Oran, Algiers, North Africa regarding the four stowaways found aboard the ship. Three Englishmen and one Panamanian were found on board. The men were James Lawson, who worked as a fireman, aged 21, born in Paisley, Scotland; Alexander Cairns, who worked as a fireman, aged 27, born in Hobbrun on Tyne, England; James Clark, who worked as a fireman, aged 22, born in Glasgow, Scotland; and Fred Smith, a sailor, aged 22, born in Pedromigual, Panama but most recently having lived in Baltimore, Maryland. The four men were turned over to immigration authorities who transported them to a detention facility in Tampa. 50 years ago
29 April 1952 - Articles of Incorporation were filed to incorporate the Williston Baseball Club, Inc. The purpose of the corporation was to promote, foster and stimulate the interest of the youth and young people of the community of Williston and its neighboring communities in the game of baseball, and to provide baseball playing gear and equipment, and to provide and maintain a baseball park. The officers were: Gene Bailey, President; Wardell Fugate, Vice President; Fern Fugate, Secretary; and Charles W. McPherson, Treasurer and Business Manager. Any person who paid the Treasurer a membership fee of Five Dollars or more was eligible for membership. From the Archives & History Center
