20 February 1882 - The following individuals posted $25.00 bond and received one volume of the Digest of the Laws of Florida, known as McClellans Digest, so that they could perform their duties as a Justice of the Peace. Upon the expiration of each individuals term, they were expected to return the copy of the Digest and the bond would be voided. Those who posted the bond included D.J. Smith, D.H. Headley, Syd L. Carter, Wm. R. White, Thomas J. Prevatt, Wm. Batty, F.M. McQueen, and Geo. W. Willis. 101 years ago
06 January 1902 - The Levy County Board of County Commissioners approved a contract with the Puly Jail Building and Manufacturing Company of St. Louis, Missouri for two steel-plated jail cells with side corridor,complete, bunks or four hammocks, pump and hose complete according to specifications now on file in the Clerk`s Office. The total cost of the jail cells would be $2,250. 82 years ago
12 April 1921 - The Levy County Board of County Commissioners comprised of W.R. Hodges, J.P. Kimble, C.W. McElroy, W.S. Yearty, and T.L. Williams, adopted a resolution requesting all Florida Senators and Representatives who are friends of the farmers and stock raisers of the state to get behind Senator W.J. Epperson and Representative S.J. Gunn and defeat the "No Fence Bill" currently before the Florida Legislature. The Commissioners feel that passage of such a bill into law would be detrimental to the interests of that class of people who feed and cloth the peoples of the world.
