22 November 1869 - Frank A. Pardu filed suit against Charles Johnson and his wife in Levy County Circuit Court. Pardu alleged that Johnson and his wife are unlawfully and wrongfully detaining a steam boiler valued at $500 on their land on Depot Key (Atsenia Otie) that belonged to Pardu. The Circuit Court Judge ordered the Sheriff to retrieve the steam boiler from the Johnsons and return it to Pardu. 120 years ago
1882 - The Florida Railroad and Lumber Company incorporated with capital stock totaling $1,000,000. The company planned to construct a rail line from Bronson to Clay Landing in Levy County. In 1887, the Suwannee and Gulf Railroad Company incorporated with capital stock totaling $500,000. The proposed route for this rail line was Rowland`s Bluff Branford, Suwannee County) to Cedar Key in Levy County, a total of 75 miles. Neither one of the rail lines were constructed. 50 years ago 07 January 1953 - Mr. B.B. Long, Mr. Frank Lowman, Mr. J. Ray Lee, and Mr. Glover McDonell, all being citizens of Raleigh, Florida, appeared before the Levy County Board of County Commissioners and requested that the Board take some action in regards to the matter of certain agents of the A.C.L. Railroad closing certain roads parallel to the A.C. L. track by placing cross ties across the roads. Said roads being near the edge of the A.C.L. Right of Way, the railroad crosses the lands of the persons mentioned above. The Board requested their attorney, Mr. J. Frank West, to write the District Office of the A.C.L. Railroad and ask that a representative of the Company attend the next regularly scheduled meeting. At the next meeting on February 3rd, Mr. Kennedy of the District Office, told Board members that he would be in that section in a few days and would work out an agreement concerning the county roads with the residents.
