20 August 1868 - On this date George L. Leavitt was sworn in as Superintendent of Common Schools of Levy County. Leavitt was followed by: William A. Shands, F.B. Faitant, Isadore Blumenenthal, W.B. Wimberly, S.S. Moore, Joseph F. Shands, J.B. Mendenhall, Syd L. Carter, James P. DePass, and C.H. Phinney.

15 January 1893 - George Wrey of England and L.Q. Kermode and J.H. Jacobie of Levy County formed a joint stock company for the purpose of raising a tobacco crop in Gulf Hammock during the year 1893. The joint company is to be known as the Gulf Hammock Tobacco Company. Wrey agrees to furnish his barn and shed for the purpose of housing, handling and curing the said crop of tobacco. The said tobacco company will employ Charles H. Hollinsworth for a period of four months beginning April 1st and ending July 31st 1893 at the rate of Forty ($40) Dollars per month to grow and cultivate said crop of tobacco.

18 June 1920 - The Gunn Realty Company of Otter Creek, which had been incorporated on the 10th day of March 1914, by S.J. Gunn and C.J. Gunn of Otter Creek, and J.B. Adkins of Rocky Mount, NC entered into a lease agreement with the Southern Red Cedar Company of Crystal River for a two year lease of numerous lands in Levy County. The agreement granted Southern the right of ingress and egress over and upon all roads and bridges located upon such lands and to use the side-tracks and logging spur of the Gunn Manufacturing Company at Gunntown (Gulf Hammock)for the hauling and loading on railroad cars of the said timber.
