In less than seventy-two hours the Cedar Key Police Department made arrests on charges ranging from possession of drugs to hit-and-run.

According to a police report, Joshua John Knipp, 20, of Hampton, Florida was arrested for possession of marijuana September 20. The arrest stemmed from a young woman acquaintance of Knipp having a seizure after smoking marijuana provided by Knipp. Knipp was arrested and taken to the Levy County Jail Monday afternoon after confirming that he had supplied the woman with the drug and was found in possession.

The same afternoon, James Clark Statham, 51, of Cedar Key, was arrested on Dock Street, charged with hit-and-run. A Cedar Key Police arrest record states that Statham struck another vehicle while driving. The owner of the struck vehicle and three others witnessed the collision and saw Statham park nearby. Statham later told police that he had seen no damage. Damage was estimated to be $200. Statham was taken to the Levy County Jail.

Following a traffic stop for speeding, Kimberly L. Berry, 24, of Chiefland was found in possession of marijuana and charged. A passenger in Berry`s vehicle, Bradley O`Dell Demoss, 27, of Greensboro, NC, was also arrested for possession of marijuana. Both Berry and Demoss were also charged with providing alcohol to a person under the age of 21, namely Tracy Lavere Pont, 19, of Gainesville, FL, who was a second passenger with Berry. Pont was arrested for possession of alcohol by a person under 21. Berry, Demoss and Pont were taken to the Levy County Jail.
