Sheriff`s Corner

Sheriff`s Corner

Levy Co. Sheriff`s Office

Hello everyone and welcome to the first Sheriff's Corner, for some of you since the beginning of the election season. Several of our papers had felt that the Corner should be discontinued during the campaigning to ensure fairness to the other candidates. Well our papers have contacted us and we are happy to start the Corner back up.

I would like to use this week's Corner to, first of all, thank you for the wonderful support and encouragement throughout the election process. It was a long campaign and a close election. I had many opportunities to talk with you and hear your ideas. I came away from the election ready to face new challenges and explore your ideas. I also came away ready to pledge our staff and myself to do the very best job possible for you and yours. If you ever have any questions or needs our staff and I can help you with, please let us know.

We've been very active during these past months. As you remember the Aqua Marine investigation was in full swing and continues at this time. We anticipate it being completed in the next several weeks.

We also had a bank robbery in Bronson at the Capital City Bank. We were able to catch the suspect and recover the stolen money. This only because of some great assistance from Bob Durrance, a witness to the event. What has been added to this investigation is the discovery that our suspect has done a number of other robberies in several other counties.

Next, the constant 4-wheeler investigations continue. We are currently working with several other counties on 4-wheeler thefts. We are solving many cases and trying to locate the vehicles stolen as far back as two years. So far the count is 70 4-wheelers, gators, and lawn mowers. Two suspects are already in custody with more anticipated. If you were victimized in this area please stay tuned.

I hope everyone is doing well. We will stay aggressive serving you. Please call if you have a need.

Take care
