Sheriff`s Corner

Sheriff`s Corner

Levy Co. Sheriff`s Office

Hello, welcome to this week's Sheriff's Corner. It has been the norm for the past few weeks to comment about very current events. The Langworthy murder, the horse situation, the Wiggins conviction and now the recent investigation surrounding the death of Matthew L. Arthur.

At the time of this writing that is Tuesday 2/22/05 the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has completed a good portion of their investigation. Interviews are almost complete. It is anticipated that FDLE will meet with the State Attorney's office and our officers to give us a progress report and hopefully a time frame and plan for the very near future.

For those of you who might not know, whenever there is a death of any kind, it must be completely investigated. This is one of the reasons why we have an agreement with FDLE. We feel that between our two offices, a very thorough investigation will always be the result. In the past, we have teamed up on a number of murder investigations.

In this particular case, it is imperative that all of the answers to all of the questions are made available to all concerned parties, especially to Mr. Arthur's family and also to Sergeant Turner, Deputy Runnels and their families.

Our hearts go out to Mr. Arthur's family as we wait for the investigation to be completed. Please take care. Be safe.
