Shortly before 2:00 Sunday Cedar Key Police officers stopped a car driven by Marty Lynn Wilson, 37, of Hawthorne, at sixty-four mph in a thirty-five mph zone of Highway 24. Within minutes a second car approached the scene and sideswiped the left side of the police cruiser before coming to a halt. Upon investigation Wilson was arrested on a warrant for violation of parole. Wilson is alleged to have then kicked out a window of the police car, and was then charged with attempted escape and criminal mischief. A passenger in the Wilson vehicle, Clyde Beauchamp, 36, who gave an address in Huntsville, Arkansas, was arrested for failure to obey a lawful command. Meanwhile, according to a police spokesperson, Alberta D. Woolard, 61, of Trenton, approached a parked police car in a 1985 Subaru and collided, doing superficial damage to the police car. Woolard failed a field sobriety test and subsequently failed a breath alcohol test at 0.14, well over the legal limit of 0.08. Woolard was charged with Driving under the influence and failure to vacate a lane occupied by a police vehicle. The collision was investigated by Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. R.D. Thomas. Wilson, Beauchamp and Wollard were transported to the Levy County Jail. |
