Letters to the Editor

Dear Friends,

Can you believe that it is almost festival time again? This year's event is being called "A Celebration of the Arts in Cedar Key" a return to fine art....

An art and aesthetics committee of the Chamber of Commerce was commissioned to organize a juried art show and sale of the type that was held here years ago. A big job.
We are proud to announce that on April 8th and 9th, 2006 about 130 of the nation's finest artists will converge on Cedar Key for what we hope will be a tremendously successful art show and sale. Your Chamber of Commerce has arranged for eight thousand dollars in purchase awards by interested businesses and the show itself will be offering 10,000$ in prize money. As always our local charities and non profits will be the beneficiaries of the thousands of tourists who will flock to Cedar Key for this event. The food in the park traditionally is offered by these local groups.

As a part of the festivities this year the Arts Center is hosting a reception for the artists and Cedar Key dignitaries on Saturday night. Also, a 5K run and a one mile family run/walk called Redfish Run for the Arts in Cedar Key will start at 7:30 on Saturday morning. A portion of the proceeds of this event will be donated to the Cedar Key Arts Center. This race will begin on the beach in the park. Sign up can be done at active .com, or at the Key Hole, or any number of stores in Cedar Key.

For any additional information please contact Carol Pattillo at 352- 543-6566. Any Cedar Key businesses that would like to include some of their advertising in the artists' check in packages, please contact Mrs. Pattillo. This is a gift from your Chamber.
