Dear Editor: This letter is being written in support of Doreen and Oliver Bauer and the Cedar Key TNR organization that they organized, ran, and worked with countless volunteers for some years now in Cedar Key and while running a most popular business too. I have known Doreen and Oliver for nine years, even before I lived in Cedar Key for a short time in the early 2000`s, and have always found them to be totally dedicated to their business - just take a look at the Faraway Inn which is plainly a beautiful spot to rest and relax, enjoy Cedar Key, and so efficiently hands-on operated - and to the community in which they chose to make a home and be a vital part of. They have dedicated themselves to the plight of Cedar Key`s feral cats for years, have been willing to jump in and assist anyone who needed help in this regard, did their homework, did their research, organized, received assistance from numerous organizations to help in their cause, and so many volunteers in Cedar Key aided them through long and tiring work and dedication as well as all the tears shed through it all. The have also contributed greatly to this community in other areas, doing what they could do to be a part of Cedar Key. I know the Bauers, and I know that they are sincere and believe in what they are doing, and always have been. I know that they do not deserve this treatment and though I am not a member of the Cedar Key community, I still have dear friends there, including the Bauers, and know a lot of the really great and wonderful people that make their home in this beautiful, Old Florida community. I urge the community to stand behind them and to do what you can to help them through this very trying time. Sincerely, A. J. Burch |
