Letter To Editor - Halloween Resolution

Letter To Editor - Halloween Resolution

Wayne Watson

Last year September I asked City Council to move the night of Halloween "trick or treat" from a Monday school night to the Saturday before. They agreed on a one time trial basis. Many towns across the country have done the same for the safety of their kids, and logistics. This year I was particularly impressed with the amount of parents who were costumed and happily relating with their awed children. Saturday worked real well for a family Halloween celebration. It only lasts from 6PM till 9PM and ends as suddenly as it begins. The hundreds of kids come from everywhere in the county. Visitors included Floridians, other Americans, and foreigners from as far off as Taiwan.

At February`s City Council meeting I asked that a resolution be adopted that would make the last Saturday of October the night of Halloween "trick or treating", unless Oct. 31 was a Friday. They are righting up the proposed resolution and will vote on it at March`s meeting. What are the opinions of your readers? I`m looking for support, but would appreciate all points of view so that City Council can make the best decision.
