Cedar Key Arts Show Renewal

Cedar Key Arts Show Renewal

Jim Hoy

The announcement of a minimum of ten thousand dollars in prizes to be awarded at the 2006 Cedar Key arts show has alerted the fine arts community locally, and before long artists from afar will receive invitations to participate in the show which is scheduled for April 8 and 9. Along with significant prizes, the 2006 show will have a new name, the Old Florida Celebration of the Arts in Cedar Key. A subtitle of the show is, A Return to Fine Arts.

The ad hoc committee that is planning the 2006 show has grown with each biweekly meeting. With the Aesthetics Sub Committee leading the way, invitations will be sent out to artists in August. Applicants for participation will first be judged for the quality of their art. A jury will then select winners from those chosen to show their work. For information please call Carol Pattillo at (352) 543-6566.
