City Commission Acts on Four Ordinances | City Commission Acts on Four OrdinancesJim Hoy The Cedar Key Commission passed four ordinances at its June 12 meeting. An ordinance that clarifies land use on a lot at the end of Anna Street owned by Ross and Dawn Buck reclassified the lot from conservation land to low density residential classification. The ordinance passed unanimously on its final reading. On first reading, an ordinance restricting overnight recreational vehicle parking passed unanimously, with the comment that the Police Department will now be able to issue $250 tickets to violators. Likewise, an ordinance passed unanimously that requires candidates for Commission seats to pay a $48 fee, which is equal to one percent of the annual salary of a Commission member. Also, an ordinance passed unanimously that will allow annexation into the City of a property owned by Walt McJordan, with the expected clarification of limited subdivision of the property on second reading. In other business, Jeff Davis of the Levy County School District made an informational presentation regarding plans to require land developers to pay the cost of school construction based on anticipated increases in school aged population associated with the development. The School District desires statement of support from affected municipalities. |
