Obituary

Donnie N. Meeks, 87 of Chiefland passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 1, 2008. He was born Nov. 15, 1920 in Gulf Hammock and lived his entire life in Levy County.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Chiefland. He farmed for many years and worked for 17 years at the Levy County Road Department. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the Gulf Hammock Hunting Club. He enjoyed working in his garden, spending time with his family and most of all, spending time with his beloved wife, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Virginia Sharp Meeks, of Chiefland, whom he cherished and with whom he had two children, son Jack Meeks ( Darleen), daughter Betty Eiland (Melvin), both of Chiefland; 5 grandchildren, Chuck(Rhonda) Cook, Kalyn Gay, Don (Andrea) Meeks, Lynette (Mike) Gregory, Lela (Bobby) Elmore; 10 Great Grandchildren, Kyle Cook, Kasidy Cook, Keri Gay, Kendalyn Gay, Cory Meeks, Jody (Nickie) Meeks, Kristen Gregory, Kelsey Gregory, Jordan Elmore, Ethan Elmore and 1 Great Great Grandchild, Landon Meeks. He was preceeded in death by 7 brothers and 3 sisters and his parents, Dave and Fannie Meeks.

Funeral services will be Tuesday August 5th, 2008 at 1 pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Chuck Cook and Brother Billy Slaughter officiating. Visitation was on Monday August 4, 2008 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Ellzey Cemetery.
