Ygnacio T. "Iggy" Carbonell

May 25, 1041 - September 25, 2010

Iggy Carbonell died on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Iggy was born in Key West on May 25, 1943 to Dr. Freddie and Mary Carbonell. He graduated from the Florida College of Medical Technology in 1966 and worked as a medical and X-ray technician before returning to school and receiving a bachelor`s degree in sociology from the University of Florida.

He currently was employed by the Alachua County school system, working withy underprivileged children. He also was enrolled in the Alachua County Grandparent Program.

In addition to his parents, Iggy was preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea.

He is survived by his brother, Sparky (Nolie) Carbonell, and two sisters, Sondra (Roy) Butler and Marlene Carbonell, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

As per his wishes, there will be no funeral service.
