Obituary

Rev. Michael Lee Whistler, 64 of Trenton, passed away April 1, 2012 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born April 17, 1947 in Independence, Kansas to the late Leslie & Ida Whistler. Rev. Whistler graduated from Biblical college in 1969, married Sandra Parrett in July 1973 and then moved to Chiefland from Dewey, OK in 1987. He was the pastor of the Full Gospel Outreach Church in Chiefland for many years.


Mike loved to play the piano and preach. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, youth sports and American History. He took great pride in his family and his church.


Rev. Whistler is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandy Whistler of Trenton; his son Jason (B.J.) Whistler of Chiefland; daughters Darla (Scott) Tummond of Gainesville, Rachel (John) Stuckey of Chiefland; sister Virginia Hadley of Bartlesville, OK; brothers Ted Whistler & Lloyd Whistler, both of Dewey, OK, Ed Whistler of Kansas City, KS; 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Norman Whistler.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 6 at 2:00pm at the Full Gospel Outreach Church in Chiefland. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
