Levy County Teachers and Students Prepare for Computer-Based Assessment 2012

Levy County Teachers and Students Prepare for Computer-Based Assessment 2012

ANNOUNCEMENT

New to assessment again this year is CBT or Computer-Based Testing. Students in Grades 6 and 10 will be taking the FCAT Reading 2.0 Exam as a computer-based assessment. Students taking the FCAT Mathematics Retake Exam, the Reading Retake 2.0 and Reading Retake Exams will no longer take a paper-pencil FCAT test, but will also take a computer-based exam.

Students completing courses in Geometry, Biology I, and Algebra I will take a computer-based End-of-Course (EOC) Exam. The dates for District Testing for computer-based exams are as follows: FCAT Math and Reading Retakes will begin on April 9, 2012; FCAT Reading 2.0 for tenth grade will begin on April 16, 2012; FCAT Reading 2.0 for sixth grade will begin on April 17, 2012; and Geometry, Biology I and Algebra I EOC exams begin on April 23, 2012.

A letter will be sent home to parents informing them of specific information and dates for Computer-Based Testing.

On test days it is important that students are well-rested and have a healthy breakfast. It is critical for students to arrive on time for school and to be dressed comfortably. It is very important to note that during testing students are NOT PERMITTED to have any electronic devices in their possession. Please help us with this requirement by talking with your child about NOT having their cell phone or IPod with them at their desk during the testing procedure. If the student has a cell phone or electronic device at their desk during testing, his/her test will be invalidated.

All rules will be explained to your child before each test, but we would like to ask for parent assistance in enforcing the NO cell phone policy.

If parents have questions or concerns, I would encourage them to contact their school Principal, Guidance Counselor or Classroom Teacher.
