This month the Cedar Key Arts Center is honored to share the works of two artists who know how to capture the spirit of Cedar Key in their paintings. Sam Kates` exhibit, entitled "A Salt Life," is featured in the main gallery. Painting in acrylics Sam says he likes to focus on "the water`s edge," a very special and unique part of our natural environment and maritime heritage. For over 50 years he has enjoyed painting buildings, boats and landscapes in and around Cedar Key, bringing back memories that fill your senses - the sight, the sound, the smell and the feel of the Nature Coast. In the Member Artists` Gallery, the oil paintings of Cedar Keyhole Artist, Bob Goodlett are featured. Bob`s serene interpretations of nature`s moods are both delicately and dramatically depicted in his paintings of our marshes, waterways and wildlife. Bob Goodlett, center, is shown with Tony and Robin Edwards and their son Patrick, with Goodlett's oil "Sunset Pines," which they purchased at the show.
