Alexandria Zettler

Cedar Key area middle and high school students quickly filled the available slots for the CKAC "Free" art program taught by Zandy Zettler on Thursday afternoons at 3:00pm. These enthusiastic students have taken on the challenge of "The Linear Edge" or completing contour drawings for six weeks; first working on proportioning the human body followed by a few lessons in drawing landscapes in perspective. Thank goodness for Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci and the Camera Obscura!

Color theory and value will be the foci for six weeks of painting will begin in January. With a little help from members in the community (that means you!), we hope to travel to Sarasota and the Ringling School for National Portfolio Day, 01/22/2012. NPD is a national event where admission officers from national art schools review potential students` work for immediate approval. In other words, you want to go to the Art Institute of Chicago for your BFA? Take your portfolio for an instant response rather than submitting a DVD and waiting weeks on pins and needles for acceptance. This is a great educational experience EVEN if my group isn`t ready to apply.

Finally, the last six weeks in the spring will include alternative processes, such as printmaking, collage, and cyanotype photography. BTW, we welcome participating adults. As life-long learners, we have joined in a common goal: to create, organize, document, and display our work! If you have a venue available, let us know!
