Cedar Key’s 48th Annual Fine Art Festival

Cedar Key’s 48th Annual Fine Art Festival

ANNOUNCEMENT

This weekend, historic downtown Cedar Key will transform into a celebration of fine art. Old Florida Celebration of the Arts is celebrating its 48th anniversary and is one of the premier outdoor fine arts festivals in the state. Three city blocks on Historic 2nd Street will be showcasing 118 fine artists who specialize in a variety of mediums. Festival visitors will have the opportunity to meet these artists, sample wonderful local cuisine, and enjoy live entertainment in City Park.

Old Florida Celebration of the Arts, previously known as the Sidewalk Arts Festival, has attracted artists to Cedar Key since 1964. Artists and guests step back in time to the small fishing village for the friendly atmosphere and calm pace. Visitors have the opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind art from a wide variety of talented artists displaying their works in oils, acrylics, watercolors, sculptures, jewelry, ceramics, and photography. Artists will also be competing for more than $16,000 in prize money and purchase awards.

"Our festival has a wonderful history and we are so proud to be once again considered as a premier show. Artists want to be in this show because of the wonderful reputation we have gained over the past 6 years. The community`s participation and hospitality are a major part of what makes our fine arts festival so special," said Festival Coordinator Mandy Cassiano.

The entire family will be delighted throughout the event. City Park has a large playground directly on the beach and children will have the opportunity to get their faces painted, make butterfly crafts, and enjoy the beach playground. Indulge in delicious foods made by local non-profits, civic organizations and school groups. Some menu items include locally caught seafood, crab cakes, hamburgers, hotdogs, freshly squeezed lemonade, homemade desserts, and don`t forget about Cedar Key`s famous steamed clams. A diverse selection of appetizing dishes will be offered by 20 food vendors and is sure to satisfy everyone. Music lovers will enjoy live performances by Whitey Markle & the Swamprooters, Shade Tree, Foggy Bottom Band, Bishop Davidson, and The Dale Kennedy Blue Grass Band.

The City of Cedar Key invites you to join us for this special event and looks forward to another successful show. Admission is free all weekend. For more information please visit www.cedarkeyartsfestival.com or call Mandy Cassiano at 352.543.5400.
