133 years ago 11August 1870 - John Tyer, Collector of Revenue of Levy County filed his report on the amount of real estate taxes collected for the year. The sum of $5,848.48 was collected and was distributed as follows: $3,074.76 to be sent to the Florida State Treasury marked $2,244.98 for state taxes, $414.89 for a "Sinking Fund", and $414.89 for state schools. The sum of $1,126.35 stayed in Levy County as general revenue, $1,037.62 was set aside for courthouse renovations, and $519.75 was turned over to the Treasurer of the Levy County Board of Public Instruction for local schools. 95 years ago 19 August 1908 - W.A. Sauls and S.M. Sauls, his wife, deeded to the Magnolia Lodge No. 148 of Free and Accepted Masons at Rosewood, a one acre parcel of land for their use to erect a place of meeting. The two story house currently on the property is to be removed by the Sauls within one year from the above date. The lot was located to the south of the Seaboard Air Line Railway right of way. 75 years ago 02 October 1928 - Judgment was entered in favor of I.J. Robinson and N.C. Robinson, former co-partners in a business under the firm name of "Robinson Brothers" against the Crystal River Crate Company, a corporation doing business at Lebanon, Levy County, Florida. J.P. Wilson, president of Crystal River Crate Company, was summoned to court to explain why the company had not paid the Robinson Brothers $2,900 in over-due promissory notes. The crate company could not pay, so to satisfy the judgment, 274.92 acres of land north of Turtle Creek in the Wacasassa Bay were sold at public auction at the front door of the Courthouse.
