Weekend Fishing Report | Weekend Fishing ReportSarah Campbell This past weekend was very prosperous for sport fishermen. Numerous limits of large trout were caught. In particular, one party of two, fishing with a local guide, caught their limit ten large trout by 10 a.m. This party came in to dock at 3:30 p.m. exhausted from releasing over 100 fish. Although in-shore fishermen were successful, the strong winds prevented offshore boating parties from leaving the dock. These trips were either postponed or cancelled. Cobias have been showing up in increasing numbers. One 27-pound cobia was weighed at a local tackle shop. A 40 lb cobia, which is very large for this time of year, was also reported. In two separate reports, tarpon were brought to the side of the boat, measured, and released. One of these tarpon measured just short of 6 feet. Numerous large schools of tarpon have been sighted. People looking for a good dinner continue to do well on sand trout, whiting, and mackerel. Kingfish are also abundant. However, the strong winds have kept the number of kingfish fishermen at a minimum. |
