Police Chase to Otter Creek

Police Chase to Otter Creek

Jim Hoy

A routine traffic stop by a Cedar Key police officer ended in a chase from Cedar Key to Otter Creek. According to a police report, Kevin L. Eldridge, 40 of Ocala, was seen driving east bound on State Route 24 at sixteen miles per hour over the limit. Shortly after being stopped and refusing to take a sobriety test, Eldridge sped away.

Eldridge was followed to Otter Creek where Levy County sheriff's officers aided in stopping the chase. Charged with driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding and habitual driving with license suspended or revoked, Eldridge was taken to the Levy County Jail where he refused to take a breath alcohol test.

Eldridge's arrest is the fourth driving under the influence arrest by Cedar Key police in May. That is an increase over previous months in 2005.
