Arts Festival Accounting Released | Arts Festival Accounting ReleasedJim Hoy Accountability for the income and expenses of the Cedar Key Arts and Crafts Festival became an issue prior to the 2005 event. The Cedar Key Chamber of Commerce took responsibility for providing accounting when an ad hoc committee planned the event. The Chamber of Commerce has released financial data indicating income from vendor fees was $8675 and expenses were $4039, leaving a surplus of $4636. The ad hoc committee made a commitment that the entire surplus would be for promotion of the 2006 festival. Furthermore, in an effort to increase participation by fine artists, a juried art show with cash prizes was promised. Although the financial aspects of the 2006 festival would seem to be secure, the June 16 meeting of the ad hoc committee was attended by only two people. According to Chamber of Commerce President Dan Holland, the next meeting of the ad hoc committee will be at the Sunset Isle RV Park at 7:30 PM, June 30. He said that at that meeting vendor fees, vendor screening and prize money for the juried show will be discussed. |
