Health Department Visits Cedar Key | Health Department Visits Cedar KeyJim Hoy The Levy County Health Department paid Cedar Key two visits Tuesday July 12. A Community Service bus came to town to provide hurricane preparedness information. Also, the routine monthly visit of a health nurse occurred in the upstairs of the Cedar Key Library. The nearly coincidental visit of storm surge from Hurricane Dennis may have added to our community's interest in preparedness. Patti Werner, R.N., set up her shop in the library meeting room. She was here to dispense free service in the form of nursing assessments, birth control information, diet and nutrition information. She gives childhood immunizations, tetanus shots, etc. In the Fall flu shots will also be available. The library is being used until a permanent location for a health center is found with the help of Community Redevelopment funding. Hunter Harrison, center, receives a tetanus shot from nurse Patti Werner, as his father, Hank, watches.
