Smitty`s Bar-B-Que Opens

Jim Hoy

Cedar Key has a new source of sandwiches, meals and deserts. Smitty's Extreme Bar-B-Que and Soft Serve greets people as they come into town on State Route 24. John and Diane Smith have moved their bar-b-que from Augusta, Georgia to Cedar Key. The Smiths have lived all over the United States and for a time lived in British Columbia where they had a fish and chips restaurant.

Diane and John Smith pause for a moment.

Smoked pork, Texas style beef brisket and smoked chicken are available Tuesday through Sunday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday smoked ribs are added to the menu. In addition to sandwiches and full meals, soft serve ice cream and banana splits await those with a sweet tooth.
