Susie Day of Cedar Key, died at Haven Hospice in Chiefland, Sunday, April 8, 2012. She was 89 years old. Mrs. Day was born in Cedar Key, Florida on June 18, 1922. She was a lifelong resident of Cedar Key. She and her husband, P.H., owned and operated The Question Mark, a popular gathering place for the teenagers of Cedar Key. They also owned and operated Bay Breeze Oysters, where Mrs. Day was known for her famous Smoked Mullet and Smoked Mullet Spread. Mrs. Day was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Cedar Key and a charter member of the Cedar Key Lioness Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 65 years, P.H. Day, son-in-law Doug Calvert and grandson Roy Sills. She is survived by 4 daughters, Cobina Sills of Chiefland, Carmen and Daniel Williams, ChaRue and Virgil Sandlin, and Nena Calvert all of Cedar Key, a sister Wilma Holman (Herbert) of Chiefland and a brother Tyler Coburn (Ruth) of Gainesville. She has 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice of Chiefland or Christ Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
