Local Photographer Wins Honorable Mention in Photo Contest

Staff Writer

The New York Institute of Photography's "Birds" photo contest received thousands of entries, and the judges said "we had quite a time trying to narrow down the winners as we had so many wonderful pictures to choose from".

Local photographer Rose Valle was one of those thousands. Her action shot of a pelican in flight at sunset won an honorable mention. The judges noted that photographing a pelican in flight can be quite challenging under normal lighting conditions, but to capture it at sunset made it even more unique.

The winning photo.

If you would like to see more of Rose's work you can stop by the "Cactus Rose" restaurant on SR 24, they have a wonderful mini gallery of her work on display.
