Cedar Key Arts Center

The Cedar Key Arts Center will be hosting two open community exhibits this year. We wanted to encourage you to get your creative juices going -- especially since the February exhibit will take time to collect materials.

November/December: In conjuction with the main gallery exhibit featuring Mike Segal which opens, Saturday, November 21 and runs through December, a "Giftable Art Show & Sale" will be going on in the small gallery. Like last year, artists are encouraged to enter pieces for sale that are priced at $75 or less. There is no entry fee and no limit on the number of entries. Items must be priced and marked with the artists name. 75% of the sale price goes to the artist. Entries should be dropped of at the CKAC by 5 pm Wednesday, November 18.

February 2010: This will be a first at the Cedar Key Arts Center. Creastions must be constructed of "used or discarded" material that would be trash or recycled, but has been put to a new use as a piece of art. The main gallery will feature entries from our arts community (max 3 per artist, $5/entry) and the small gallery will showcase works done by students at the Cedar Key School (no entry feel). For inspiration, Google "recycled art" or check out www.recyclesantafe.org, which documents an entire festival woven around the recycling theme.
