ANNOUNCEMENT

Dale Register:

My wife Grace and I moved to Cedar Key in 2008 and truly love this island city. I was born in north Florida, grew up in Gainesville and graduated from UF so returning to this area to retire was especially good for me. Since moving here, Ken Edmunds and I started a solar business and Grace has opened a gift shop with a rental cottage. We have become active in the community that is our chosen home.

In my previous life as a telecommunications manager for over 37 years, I experienced a broad spectrum of challenges and learned from many people and from my own mistakes. Each step helped me to improve as a team builder and problem solver. I have been fortunate to have had career growth opportunities here and abroad and now want to give something back to this community.

I have attended most City Commission meetings in Cedar Key and participated often. It has been both interesting and frustrating. The lack of teamwork, problem solving and fiscal responsibility are disappointing. Political posturing is common. A significant surprise has been the shortage of candidates willing to run for office and the "unopposed" re-election of incumbents.

As a result of these feelings, I have decided to offer my time, experience and willingness to serve to the citizens of Cedar Key. I believe that elections should involve CHOICES for voters and that competition improves the level of performance. Cedar Key citizens deserve an outstanding City Commission. Our system of representative democracy and our Constitution are institutions that I strongly support.

This is to announce my campaign to serve as your City Commissioner. Please carefully consider each candidate----then exercise your Right to Vote for YOUR CHOICE!
