Virginia Delaino Walrath

Obituary

Virginia Delaino Walrath passed away on October 11, 2011 at Haven Hospice in Chiefland, Florida. She was born on June 14, 1924, to Estelle Bertine Delaino and William Peter Delaino in Cedar Key, Florida, where she lived until her death.

Virginia was a 1942 graduate of Cedar Key High School, and married her high school sweetheart, Burton Jay Walrath, Jr. on January 5, 1943. They were married for 68 years. They have three daughters: Doris Virginia (Joe) Corbin; Evelyn (Sammy) Yearty; and Miriam Walrath Needham. Virginia`s grandchildren, John (Jami) Corbin, Virginia Lou (Billy) Keith, William (Teri Lynn) Needham, and Tiffany (Jeff) Herold, were the love of her life, until the great-grand`s arrived: Emma Grace Keith, Jack Burton Corbin and Weston Lane Corbin.

In addition to her husband and children, Virginia is survived by her brother, George Arthur (Laura Jean) Delaino and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Delaino, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four siblings: William Edwin Delaino, Sr., Doris Wilma Delaino, Ann Estelle Rowland, and Mary Geraldine Rohrbacher.
Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an accomplished seamstress making wedding dresses for her daughters, granddaughters and nieces. Virginia was also a wonderful cook and gracious hostess who loved to entertain her church family and friends.
Virginia was a life-long member of the Cedar Key United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women`s Missionary Union before her illness. Her funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 at 2:00 at the Cedar Key United Methodist Church, followed by interment in the Cedar Key Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cedar Key United Methodist Church.
