Obituary

George Daniel age 72 of Bronson and Cedar Key, FL passed away on November 27, 2011. He was born on August 5, 1939 in Jackson, Mississippi to Orval Daniel and Helen Kirkland.

He moved to Bronson in 1980 from Cedar Key. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Cedar Key. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and going to Gator Games, more than anything he enjoyed friends and family.

He served in the United States Navy from 1958-1962. He was a former Florida Highway Patrol Officer. He was part of the very first graduating class of the Police Recruit Academy from Santa Fe. He was a former Chief of Police for Cedar Key. He also served as City Commissioner for Cedar Key. He also worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Levy County where he was involved in the Explorers program. He has also worked as a former mail contractor for the United States Postal Service serving the Tri-County Area.

His greatest love was to see a child smile and to take a child to see places they would never get to see.

He is survived by his ex-wife and friend Wilma Daniel; sons Kenneth Daniel (Christine), Keith Daniel (Melissa), Kevin Daniel (Angela); step-daughter Dara Davis; step-son Scotty Davis; brother Joe Daniel (Dot); sisters Ann Clemmons; Carolyn Richburg (Glen); 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 6:00-8:00pm at Knauff Funeral Home-Chiefland. Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Cedar Key Cemetery with Minister Daniel Carswell officiating.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers to please make donations to VA Fisher House Foundation, Inc. 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420 Rockville, MD 20850-5168 or to Haven Hospice 311 North East 9th street Chiefland, Fl 32626
