Festival Features Special Postmark

Cedar Key Postmaster Annette Kordgien has been working closely with the committee for the Old Florida Celebration of the Arts to create a special cancellation stamp for the arts festival.

The cancellation mark will be used during the festival on April 21 and 22, and, yes, Ms. Annette will be working with the committee on Sunday!

The cancellation mark is an image of Seahorse Lighthouse, designed by Janet Blackwell. Ms. Annette will be located at the Red Tent on 2nd Street to postmark mail brought to her there with the special collector`s postmark.

Postcards featuring this year`s poster art by Carol Sakellarios will be sold at the festival and can easily be brought to Ms. Annette and then mailed! T-shirts and posters also will be available.

Featured Artist: Carol Sakellarios

Carol Sakellarios` art entitled "Friends" was selected to commemorate the 2007 Old Florida Celebration of the Arts in Cedar Key.

Carol will be autographing the posters on Saturday, April 21 at the Red Tent on 2nd Street.

Carol`s art is best known for the wonderful energetic spirit that shines through the vivacious color. A self-taught artist, Carol has become a Master Weaver of baskets and looms. She also makes stained glass and began painting water colors 10 years ago. She hasn`t stopped painting since!

Carol and her husband, george, and dog, Mr. Rusty Man, have been residents of Cedar Key since 1980. Carol can often be found at the Island Arts, a local artist co-op on C Street behind Drummond Bank. The Co-0- has announced it will soon move around the corner to 2nd Street to the current location of Cedar Key Canvas.
